A central aim of the MIND Research Institute is to research how students acquire and develop problem solving skills in math and science. An innovative aspect of our research design is our ability to dissociate problem-solving skills from language proficiency. We have developed a variety of techniques to pose and allow students to answer sophisticated mathematical problems without the use of numbers, words or other symbols. In collaboration with the education branch of the MIND Research Institute, we are able to test and apply research findings to actual classroom learning environments. |
